Monday Poems
///
Backyard Haiku
Jim Culleny
Damn!
under a flat rock
the chipmunk, scooting, is gone
the cat's tail twitches.
Politics
before time runs out
it's important to breathe free
at least once, no less.
Suddeness
A cat waits under
the wisteria, so cool.
A bird flies too low.
Chiminea
here's the fire, red in
the chiminea, flaming
in fall before snow.Emissions
it's snowblower time
yellow overalls appear
exhaust and white plumes
Sleepwalking
Sleep is hard to find
when, looking back, you see you've
never been awake.///

On a sultry day
Jim's poems are so cool and fresh
The AC helps too

Death
The child cries all night
At seven he's discovered death
What can I tell him?

I like it but it's too clever to be the Haiku of old

It can't be the haiku of old. It's too late.
