MONDAY POEM

"Faith is a window or a mirror, you never know which. But every once in a while they both could use a little Windex" --Clara Lichtner
Dim Bulb on Watch —North Atlantic
Jim Culleny
At sea in a cork![]()
on the back of a frothing bull
grey to infinite horizon
smack in the middle of it
stupid in adventure
bullspit flying everywhere
lurching twenty, thirty feet per leap
pitching, yawing, rolling, falling
it never occurred to me
that I might drownAnd so, the dim bulb
of the boy I was
lit my way. And what
dim bulb still does?

Another good one, Jim. Keep them coming! The 3QD daily poem is the first thing I read each day.

Somebody's got a great ear for "sea" poems. The second in as many weeks I think. Great description of riding a rough sea in the North Atlantic when you're a late adolescent and adventuring almost completely full of shit, as I was back in '72 (not that I'm entirely free of that substance now). And what a great little reflection on what we know now vs then! And you have to like the coda about the nature of capital F Faith.
