Afternoon self-congratulatory booze-fest with four ugly patronizing bitches who think they know everything.

And yet, if you buy the DVD, the proceeds go to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali Security Trust. Krusty, whose life have you saved this holiday season? Did you find the content of their discussion disagreeable or just their looks?

I have followed the development of the "new athesim" theme, listened to and read the dialogues of it various agents including each of these four gentlemen, whom I admire and respect, and others too, many others, and still remain fascinated that there is an essential, fundamental concept that eludes them all. I keep waiting for the moment of understanding. For the poetic moment to fall. But ever it seems to hover out of reach. So if I may : True Believers are, in their minds, both Lover and Beloved. Not of a mere mortal only. But of an idealised, paternal-construct being, faultless, forgiving and the keeper of one's immortality. We are altruistic, adapted to reciprocate and accept reciprocation. It is easy to extend the love concept- it's no metaphor to them. But for now it is critical to understand that when we ask someone to re-examine their faith it is akin to a private investigator going up to Mr Dawkins and saying, "Sir, I have evidence that your wife has been cheating on you and in fact does not love you. You do not know me but I assure you I am a famous investigator. What would you like to do now?" Consider the shock. Are you offended? Why? We who are rational and non-religious in our views should first understand that many faithful are in a definable state of love, some quite deeply. It is a state they are wholly adapted to be in. This we know. But this we may not: that changing this state means they must have their hearts broken. And for them this is just the beginning.
