In 2006, Canada probably wouldn't back an immediate ceasefire either. In fact, we might not ever back the theory of evolution.

When the bombings started almost two weeks ago, Stephen Harper called Israel's military attacks "measured". He has not rescinded or even qualified his opinion since then. Canada has the largest number of citizens of any Western country living in Lebanon.

Let Hezbollah start rocketing the countries whose flags are in the Yes column. Some might want an immediate ceasefire after they started to fight back, some after they chose not to -- but others would want enough time to kill as many of Hezbollah as they could.

And they sure are doing a great job killing Hezbollah! UN workers, international peacekeeprs and aidworkers are now added to Israel's list of casualties in addition to countless civilians (countless because according to Israeli ratio 1 Israel=15 Non-Israelis.

"Let Hezbollah start rocketing the countries whose flags are in the Yes column." Isn't that what Isreal, in a way, did when they shelled, for EIGHT HOURS the UN base (well-established and well marked) in Khiyam, despite repeated protests? And, after granting safe passage to two armoured personnel carriers to evacuate the position, fired on them?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today,
after a Canadian UN Peacekeeper was killed at his observation post along with 3 others, even after the UN repeatedly warned the Israelis they were targeting a civilian site:
"We want to find out why this United Nations post was attacked and also why it remained manned during what is now, more or less, a war during obvious danger to these individuals."
I'm embarassed to be be Canadian.
